Terms of Service

Welcome to Backdrop. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Backdrop website and mobile apps (the "Service"), operated by Backdrop Ag LLC ("Backdrop," "we," "us," or "our"). By using Backdrop, you agree to these Terms.

1. What Backdrop Does

Backdrop helps run livestock shows — registration, entries, results, payments, and award payouts. Individual shows are created and run by their own organizers. Backdrop provides the platform; organizers set and enforce the rules of their own events, including judging decisions and refund policies.

2. Your Account

• You sign in with your phone number and a text-message code — there's no password to manage.
• Keep your information accurate and your phone number secure. You're responsible for activity on your account.
• Families can register together: a parent can create a family account, invite others onto it, and manage registrations for the exhibitors in it. Minors may also create and use their own account, either on their own or as part of a family.
• To create an account you must be 18 or older, or have a parent or guardian's permission to use Backdrop.
• If you're a parent registering a minor, you're confirming you're authorized to do so on their behalf.
• Exhibitors have a public profile — their name, profile photo, and show results are visible to other exhibitors on Backdrop. A profile photo is optional and can be removed at any time.

3. Text Messages

Your phone number is how you sign in to Backdrop, so we use text messages to run your account. By giving us your phone number, or by signing in with it, you agree to receive text messages from Backdrop about your account, your registrations, and the events you take part in. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages.

Message frequency varies and depends on your activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

If you invite somebody to Backdrop — an exhibitor registering for your event, a member of your family account, or a staff member working your event — you must have that person's permission to contact them at the number you enter, and you confirm that you do each time you send an invitation. Do not enter a number you were not given for this purpose. We send one invitation per request and nothing further unless the person signs in.

4. Payments and Payouts

Registration fees and other charges are processed securely through Stripe. Any applicable fees are shown before you pay. Award money you or your exhibitor earn is added to your Backdrop balance once results are posted; you can request a transfer to your bank account at any time (a small transfer fee may apply). All amounts are in U.S. dollars.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Provide false information about yourself, an exhibitor, an animal, or an entry;
• Access another person's account or another family's information without permission;
• Harass or defraud another user or event organizer;
• Misuse, disrupt, or attempt to reverse-engineer the Service; or
• Use the Service for anything unlawful.

6. Your Content

You keep ownership of what you submit to Backdrop (like event details, photos, or entry information). You give us permission to use it as needed to run the Service — for example, showing an event's public page or sharing an exhibitor's results with that event's organizer.

7. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

Livestock shows are in-person events involving animals and equipment, and carry inherent risks that are outside Backdrop's control. Backdrop is not responsible for on-site safety, animal health, judging decisions, or the conduct of organizers, exhibitors, or attendees.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BACKDROP IS NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, AND OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE FEES YOU PAID US IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS.

8. Ending Your Use of Backdrop

You can stop using Backdrop at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or misuse the Service.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms occasionally. If we make significant changes, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app. Continuing to use Backdrop after a change means you accept it.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Utah.
